Activity description
Discover the valley of the God of Thunder. On this day tour to Thórsmörk, you will explore with one of our guides the magnificent birch forest & ascend the impressive Valahnúkur peak or hike the Tindfjallahringur trail, both offering an awe-inspiring 360º panoramic view of the entire valley. You will be able to get some adventure via this 4x4 excursion with some hiking (weather-dependent) and the possibility to see some wildlife (arctic fox for example).
On the way to Thórsmörk, if the weather is good enough, there will be a stop at Stakkholtsgjá Canyon, one of the hidden gems of this area.
A 6-8 hour tour in a modified 4×4 vehicle to be able to access every corner of this magical and unique place. Fall in love with the beauty of one of the most spectacular places in the Highlands of Iceland. If the weather allows we will have spectacular views throughout the day.
- Spectacular hiking trails.
- Superjeep ride + river crossing.
- Secret waterfalls & canyons.
- Introduction with the guide at Hvolsvöllur or Seljalandsfoss Waterfall parking.
- Drive to Thórsmörk.
- Hiking in the area (depending on the weather conditions).
- Return to Hvolsvöllur or Seljalandsfoss Waterfall parking.
You need to be able to hike in uneven terrain for 3-4 hours.
- Certified 4x4 guide
- 4-wheel-drive (4WD) modified vehicle
- Fuel for the 4x4
- Food and drinks
- Good hiking shoes
- Warm clothing (wind and waterproof outer layers)
- Hiking poles (recommended)
- Food and water for the day
