Activity description

Au Canot Volant welcomes you for a canoe or kayak trip down the Assomption River in the beautiful region of Saint-Côme in Lanaudière near Montreal!

The Assomption River is a river that attracts many water sports enthusiasts, it is a perfect place for canoeing or kayaking! Located on the north shore of the St. Lawrence, at the northern tip of the island of Montreal, the Assomption River rises at Lake L'Assomption in Mont-Tremblant and flows into the St. Lawrence near the town of Repentigny.

The short 6 km descent allows everyone to discover canoeing or kayaking and to live a memorable experience in the heart of Quebec. The descent is done on a section of the river with translucent water ideal for families, groups of friends, couples and solitary people to enjoy a moment out of time in the middle of nature. Take the time to stop on the shore to get in the water or simply relax under the Quebec sun!

The canoes are 2-seater boats.

Course of events

- Arrival at Le Canot Volant 45 minutes before departure;
- Welcome, payment and documents to be completed;
- Checking of personal equipment;
- Distribution of equipment and explanation of the river;
- Boarding the bus;
- Arrival at the boat launch;
- Safety instructions, trackless practice,
- basic techniques;
- Launching;
- Descent by canoe;
- Arrival at the Flying Canoe;
- Return of the equipment.

Activity requirements

All participants must complete a risk acceptance form and answer a few health questions. Au Canot Volant reserves the right to prohibit some participants from making one or more runs.

The maximum weight per person is 102 kilos.

Special terms

The activity takes place even if the weather forecast calls for rain. However, Au Canot Volant will cancel the outing in case of severe thunderstorms, strong winds or for other weather reasons.

Do not forget to bring
  • Shoes or sandals that can get wet (flip-flops are not accepted)
  • Clothing for canoeing (which can get wet) and suitable for the day's weather (windbreaker, fleece)
  • Swimming costume, towel and a change of clothes for the return journey
  • Bottle of water and snack
  • Camera or phone with waterproof case
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat, cap, mosquito repellent and sunscreen
