About: The Museum of History: The Altemberger House

The Altemberger House, named after its first proprietor, served as Sibiu's Town Hall for 400 years (until 1948). It's one of the most impressive examples of Gothic architecture in Romania, and dates back all the way to the late 13th century.

The outer courtyard is known for featuring decorative figures illustrating typical characters from the late 17th century, while the back courtyard (also called the Martyrs' Garden) features sculptural work with a strong Renaissance influence.
