Learn More about Alberta

Located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, it owes its name to the 4th daughter of Queen Victoria, Louise Caroline Alberta. It is the kingdom of nature, immense and wild: snow-capped mountains, emerald lakes, forests and meadows as far as the eye can see. Sports enthusiasts will find it an ideal playground for skiing, hiking, mountaineering, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding and dog sledding. In the old walled city of Saint Joachim, the church of the same name stands proudly next to the Alberta Legislature. With its three brick-colored towers, it symbolizes the center of the francophone district. To get a feel for the region's culture, visit the Royal Alberta Museum, which tells the story of Canadians and the province's wildlife. To relax, Fort Edmonton Park, slightly to the west, invites you to stroll along its green expanses. Shopping enthusiasts will enjoy wandering through the many stores and boutiques of the West Edmonton Mall, which also offers a variety of entertainment. Not far away, the Alberta Visual Centre features many works by Franco-Albertan artists. Further south, Calgary is known for its rich culture and environment. The many museums in the city explore both the World War II period - as in the Naval Museum of Alberta - and art at the famous Glenbow Museum. The latter brings together contemporary American and European art. It is also possible to admire objects of Amerindian culture. Another curiosity not to be missed is the Heritage Park Historic Village, a reproduction of a western Canadian village. It brings to life the fur trade and the construction of the first railroads. On the nature side, Alberta has several national parks. The three main ones, Banff, Jasper and Yoho, join to form the Rocky Mountain Park, a World Heritage Site. The Jasper park allows you to bathe in the "Miette" hot spring, nestled in the mountains.
