The Old Town of Menton (La Vieille Ville)

The Old Town is loved by photographers. Indeed, the color schemes, sometimes very warm and sometimes lovely pastel, in the narrow streets create beautiful pictures. The Old Town is mainly on the borders of the Sea and its beautiful beaches. It is in this area that you will find the main tourist points.

Admire the Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel, located in the heart of the Old Town. It is a jewel of baroque art. We love its colorful facade which reflects the sun shining on Menton. Note its square decorated with pebbles, featuring the coat of Grimaldis' arms (Italian dynasty).

The Old Castle Cemetery (Le Cimetière Vieux Château) : it offers the best view of Menton and the Mediterranean sea. Some of very important people and families of Menton are buried there.

Treat yourself to a moment of peace and relaxation as you stroll through the Madonna's greenhouse garden.

Discover the Bastion, a small fortress brought to life by the artist Jean Cocteau. The artist fell in love with the city and as its biggest fan, he decided to settle there frequently and to present his art works. The Wedding Hall (Salle des Mariages) is also a kind of exhibition of his art. He decorated it and also selected some of the furniture.

The city is very proud of its botanical heritage. In 2020, it received the "4 flowers" label, thanks to its diversity and the quality of the vegetation as well as the overall maintenance of the city.
