Learn More about Delft

During a stay in the Netherlands, and especially in the region of Rotterdam, visiting Delft is a must. Delft is indeed a typical small city, with canals. A bit like Amsterdam, but with fewer tourists and on a smaller scale!

In spite of successive destruction, Delft was rebuilt, and some parts of the city have remained well-preserved. From the 17th century onwards, the city turned to the development of ceramic factories: the famous Delft earthenware! You can visit the only remaining porcelain factory of the 17th century in Delft that is the Royal Delft.

The marketplace of Delft is located in the heart of the city. It is very large, and there is the town hall and a number of cafés and restaurants. It is the heart of the city where people gather, especially on weekends. It is also home to one of Delft's landmarks: the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church). The Nieuwe Kerk can be visited, as well as its tower, which can be reached from the top. From the top of the tower, you have a view of Delft and the surrounding area. It is necessary to climb nearly 400 steps.

In addition to this large square, it is also pleasant to stroll through the streets of Delft, and especially along its canals. The clichés of the Netherlands are often combined: many cyclists, canals, but also beautiful facades, sometimes colorful. Take advantage of your stay to take a boat trip on the canals!

Another characteristic of the city of Delft: its old church. It dates from the 13th century, and has a particularity: its tower is leaning! The clock on top of the tower is not symmetrical, so as not to give the impression that the tower is leaning.

Art lovers will be conquered by Delft which is full of many museums, in particular the famous Voor de kunst telephone booth which is the smallest museum in the world that hosts exhibitions. or the Prinsenhof Museum and the Vermeer circuit.

Delft is a real Dutch city, with its canals, its artistic culture, and the charm of the city, you will be conquered by the calm and the activities offered by the place.
