In Guzmán El Bueno you will find one of the best preserved castles in Andalusia (Guzmán Castle). It was built by the Caliph Abd-ar-Rahman III in 960. However, it is named after the Christian leader Guzmán El Bueno who defended the city from the Arab invasion in 1294 and sacrificed his own son in the battle. You can walk on the walls of the castle for only 4 €. From the castle you can enjoy a wonderful view of Africa located only 15 km from Tarifa. Another wonderful view is the landscape from the mirador El Estrecho As you start the ascent to the mirador El Estrecho, located 6 km from Tarifa, you will gradually see a panorama of the most complete. You will see the African coast and one of the "columns of Hercules". This is the Jebel Musa, a mountain in the north of Morocco that rises to 815 meters.
