The Best Underwater Spots around the World

I took this photo a few days ago, during my holidays in Minorca, a tiny island where I was born. It’s been almost five years since I left my home now. I stumbled upon this empty shell while I was scuba diving and I asked my girlfriend to hold it so I could take a photo of it. My intention was to capture a bit of the essence of my island: humanity and nature together in the middle of the sea. Poetic but simple at the same time.

Taken from my trip to the Galapagos islands, this turtle swam right along me as we dove beside the reef.

It doesn’t seem like it at first glance, but this picture was taken in the northern part of Norway, on Lofoten islands, which are located above the arctic circle. Luck for me the tide was low and this colorful piece of corals was not that deep and maintained this beautiful color. Photograph was taken in Thailand, Koh Lipe which is full of corals like this!

Blue Pools in New Zealand on a sunny day has the clearest, coldest water I have ever seen. The brave even take a quick swim -highly refreshing!

This is my first time attending to Holi Festival and It was a Blast ! I saw this little girl was playing colors with her family. I saw this moment where she was smiling and the background was busy and super loud with those EDM music. I knee down and captured this moment. Everyone were stepping my leg and i was like yo i must get the shot. It was worth it. Thank you to this little girl :) . I love this shot so much.

A cow nose ray swims past at the Cairns Aquarium. These fascinating and rather weird-looking rays are a type of eagle ray, and are found in the Western Atlantic Ocean from New England to Brazil.

This was how we spent the last day of 2016, driving through the Alabama Hills. I can’t think of a better way to end a wonderful year full of trips and new places.

The Clown triggerfish has a bizarre pattern. Triggerfish are territorial, and will sometimes bite a scuba diver who has intruded into their territory.

The Clown Anemonefish is the type of fish in the film Finding Nemo. This photo shows typical behaviour where they live in and find protection in stinging sea anemones.

On our last weekend in Australia before we went on our trip, we captured these guys swimming i n the shallows in search for the salmon passing by.

Anemone fish live in sea anemones, where the stinging tentacles of the anemone provide protection for the fish from predators, while the anemone fish is itself immune to the stings.

These unusual rays have a comical look to them. This one seemed to pose for me, and seemed to want to be photographed.

Just as I was finishing my dive, disappointed with the photographs I made, I ran into these guys. School trevallies. Wave surge was hitting me hard but I manage to take few photos before I ran out of air. I was happy with the photos but I was more happy to see them.

This part of the reef is home base for this little guy. Every time I swam by, he was all smiles

We rented a boat on the Greek island of Zakynthos, and we came across something that was actually pretty rare for that time of the year on that part of the island. A turtle. These guys are endangered, but around this island they thrive. We hopped in and immediately noticed the fishing line wrapped around its flippers. We wanted to help it and get it off, but it wouldn’t let us get close enough to help unfortunately.

This huge Queensland groper (or grouper) is a new addition to the Cairns aquarium in Australia. He is maybe 1.2 metres long. Truly a monster fish!

Squirrelfish generally live in deeper waters, or in the darker recesses of coral reefs, and their huge eyes help them to see in the dark.

I took this photo this afternoon in Wrocław Zoo. I’m not 100% sure but it’s probably Red Shoulder Peacock Cichlid (Aulonocara hansbaenschi).

Jellyfish are so mesmerising to watch as they pulsate through the water, without purpose or destination they are beautiful creatures that deserve to be captured in the moment.

Breathing is a process that allows you to get oxygen and, at the same time, eliminate carbon dioxide through exhalation. Only under special conditions, such as underwater, this last process is visible to the naked eye.
