RAW is uncompressed and has better dynamic range. It is the best possible format if you edit your photos using Lightroom, Photoshop, etc. Yes the files are bigger than JPEG but that much extra information the camera captures can make a bad picture very usable.
Take a picture in JPEG and take a similar picture in RAW and try editing the two. You’ll see the difference. 💻
