I had to pull over the car. The sun started to pop out from behind the cloud, and the light was irradiating this side of the mountain, in contrast with the rest of the shady valley.

Monte Pellegrino is the most famous mountain surrounding the “Conca d’Oro”, the small valley hosting the city of Palermo. Near the top there is the sanctuary of Santa Rosalia, the patron saint: every 4th of september a crowd of devoted climb on the ancient path and pray. Every day of the year Monte Pellegrino is like a shield against “maestrale” (northwest wind) and its slope are the nest for the arbour.
