I tried to create a “levitation” effect. I put together the different colours of the clothes of my friend with the monotone colour of the sky.

My problem with posing (when I do it - just like in this photo) is that I kinda get lost, looking at the horizon. What the lens did not capture (shame really because it would have made an excellent b-roll) is me rolling a cigarette and enjoying the next 15’, taking in all this beauty. Today actually, someone told me that this kind of scenery / location / weather might be depressing. I don’t take depression lightly, since I had a quick “brush” with that monster myself. Midnight. We were on the way back from Piazza San Marco. As we zig zagged through the endless maze of bridges that is Venice, I looked across and everything lined up. The moon was aligned right at the centre of the canal. Just as I pressed the shutter, a speedboat buzzed down the lane. I hesitated for a moment before pushing down on the button.

I really like this colorful shot of the Burano neighborhood in Venice, Italy because of one specific aspect: the boat driver. There is something about his presence in the photo that brings to life the utility of every other piece of the picture. It shows that Burano isn’t just a pretty place, but a place with depth and life that goes on even when the tourists leave.

Wake up at 4 o’clock in the morning. Take the backpack, prepared the night before and get in the car. About 300km separate us from the destination. We reach the place around 7 AM. All parking lots are free and there is no one around. We walk towards the lake, that is not far from the parking lot and we see a lady who reads immersed in the silence of this magical place. To break the silence only a few birds and the camera shutter that tries to capture that incredible light.

I always dreamed of going early in the morning on touring skis up into the mountains. This year I made this dream come true. We were skiing in and around Cavalese teaching the kids how to ski. One day I rented a second pair of alpine skis and the next morning at 4 am the adventure began. After 3 hrs of skiing, walking upwards to 2300m, I spent the morning on the peak waiting for the sun to come out. Nothing but silence and the freezing cold in this thin air, so peaceful and rewarding. I love it.

It’s really simple to visit this lake, it’s only 30 min from the city of Bolzano (Trentinto Alto Adige). I suggest to go there just before the sunset, to enjoy the wonderful reflection of Latemar, a group of mountains that belongs to the Dolomites.

Since I started my new job in the hearth of the Dolomites I can choose plenty of ways to reach my work place. One of them lets you drive through the best nature scenery you could imagine. And taking a break for a breathtaking moment enjoying this lake and this mountains is a must.

According to legends, once upon a time there was a mermaid living in the lake, which wizard Masaré was in love with. In order to seduce her, the witch Lanwerda advised him to dress up as jewel merchant and throw a rainbow from Mt Catinaccio to Mt Latemar. That is what he did, but he forgot to dress up. So the beautiful mermaid detected him and forever disappeared in Lake Carezza. The wizard was angry and threw all the pieces of the rainbow as well as the jewels into the waters. That’s why it still features rainbow colours.
