I stumbled upon this bridge while trekking in Japanese Alps. I have no idea what the sign means but I really like how simple it is and how beautiful it fits to the bridge.

travelers stories about Mountain range in Hakuba, Japan

Mountain range in Hakuba, Japan

  100 km from Kenroku-en

We started at the base of Hakuba Happo-One (750m above sea level) and catched a one way lift ride to the top of the slopes (about 1800m above sea level). From there we hiked up the spine, but because of wind and clouds we had to turn around near the top. This photo is taken right before we went back down. Mt. Karamatsu (2696m) is the peak to the right. We went back a week later, with perfect conditions, and managed to summit. The view from the peak is stunning in clear weather, and you’re able to see huge areas. There’s even possible to spot Mt. Fuji in the far distance.

Wildlife in Nagano Prefecture, Japan

Japan had long been a dream travel destination for me, particularly once I heard about the Nagano snow monkeys. I’ve always had a thing for monkeys and their strange human-like tendencies. As we hiked through the snow to the mountain onsens (natural volcanic hot springs) where they congregate, I couldn’t believe my eyes as hundred of them lay in a trace in the volcanic heated water of the springs. A moment i’ll never forget!

travelers stories about Mountain range in Mt. Kitadake, Japan

Mountain range in Mt. Kitadake, Japan

  173 km from Kenroku-en

Mt. Kitadake is Japan's second-highest peak at 3,193m above sea level. It's often overshadowed by its old brother Mt. Fuji but don't let that fool you. This mountain offer beautiful views and requires an equally strong commitment to climb. This photo is of us finally passing the cloud line just as the sun was setting. And it was so quiet, you can hear nothing. Not even the wind.

travelers stories about Temple in Kuramakibunecho, Japan

Temple in Kuramakibunecho, Japan

  180 km from Kenroku-en

Possibly the most peaceful and beautiful 2 hour hike you’ll ever do. Massive old growth trees, ancient temples, calming rivers, and a lush forest follows you along the entire route. When we reached the temple at the top, nobody was up there but an older Japanese woman reciting chants, while a monk slowly beat on a large drum.

Lake in Kinkaku-ji, Japan

  189 km from Kenroku-en

Back in December of 2013, I found myself in Kyoto, and one stop I had to see was the famous Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji or officially, Rokuon-ji). Its a popular Zen Buddhist temple which is visited by many all year round. I can say with certainty that it did not disappoint.

… well. There`s problem with the beautiful places around the world. Too many tourists. I`m part of the problem, I know. ;) With a bit of luck and a few minutes to queue up, you can take a photo of the beautiful Japanese gardens and buildings. But please imagine, what you can`t see in the picture: hundreds of tourists are just waiting behind me to take exactly the same picture. Most of them doing smartphone selfies of cause ;)

We found our way through the city streets after traversing through the different temples. There is something nice about seeing the contrast between the serene and bustle of the Kyoto intertwining.

If you use my work, I would really appreciate credit. It helps me grow and provide more content to share with you all for free! Please credit: www.instagram.com/igcait. An obliga-torii photo of Fushimi Inari’s famous gates in Kyoto, Japan. The day I was at the shrine it was absolutely packed. To get this photo I only had one shot - I literally sprinted as fast as I could in front of a huge group of people on the path so I could get at least one photo without anyone in the frame. Luckily it paid off - I ended up with this picture of the afternoon light trickling through the vermilion torii.
