This is an absolutely beautiful 4 km walk at the Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine outside Kyoto, Japan.
Fushimi Inari Shrine (伏見稲荷大社, Fushimi Inari Taisha) is an important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto. It is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, which straddle a network of trails behind its main buildings. The trails lead into the wooded forest of the sacred Mount Inari, which stands at 233 meters and belongs to the shrine grounds.
I took this picture when i was walking through the Torii of Fushimi Inari-taisha.
Walking up the hill through ~3000 shrines dedicated to God Inari. It is always a busy walkway filled with people during August. I was lucky enough to get some 2-3 seconds of free passage. The shot was taken on One Plus 5 (Pro mode).

In the midst of nature, you can find decades old torii gates rising from the ground
⛩️ Sanctuary of Fushimi Inari-taisha ⛩️ To get to the fox sanctuary, 233 meters above sea level, you walk through a 4 kilometer trail that runs under hundreds of sacred portals (or gates), better known as Torii. The path takes a few hours, but once at the top, satisfaction is immense 😎
In the Fushimi Inari-taisha park, thousands of shrines can be found on one single trail. With the olympics coming to Japan in 2020 I wil post a couple of screen grabs from 360 photo’s I shot during my Japan (IVRPA Conference) visit in 2018.

This is the Yasaka temple, in Kyoto. This is a typical subject for a shot, with its illumitaed lanterns. I decided to try something a bit original, using HDR and converting the image to black and white to highlight the contrast between the elements.

An obliga-torii photo of Fushimi Inari’s famous gates in Kyoto, Japan. The day I was at the shrine it was absolutely packed. To get this photo I only had one shot - I literally sprinted as fast as I could in front of a huge group of people on the path so I could get at least one photo without anyone in the frame. Luckily it paid off - I ended up with this picture of the afternoon light trickling through the vermilion torii.
