Temple in Phetchabun, Thailand

The bus from Bangkok to Phetchabun was cheap ($9!!!), long (~6 hours) and sleepless. But boy was it beyond worth it! We arrived shortly before sunrise, taking in its magnificent mosaics with our fingers and toes, napped in its shade and stayed well past sunset. I moved to Thailand having never visited, without speaking the language, without knowing anybody or anything about my new home. What a transformative year it was both personally and as a visual storyteller. This capture reminds me of growth, courage and magic.

Wildlife in Monkey Hill, Thailand

The monkey was absolutely mesmerized by his own image in the mirror. I took a few different photos of this monkey playing with the mirror on my scooter at a location called Monkey Hill in Thailand. The monkey was so gentle and was really happy to stare at his own image. I wonder if the monkey knew it was his own reflection or if he thought it was another monkey.

Temple in Khao Tao, Thailand

Perfection is a myth. It is how you as a person interpreted it what makes it perfect for you. Even this Buddha statue at Khao Takiab in Hua Hin, Thailand represents so much for devote Buddhists that missing an eye does not make any difference. Accept that nothing in life is perfect and that imperfections make life more interesting. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder

Landmark in Doi Inthanon, Thailand

Biking hundreds of kilometers through the mountains to see sunsets like this was something I’ll never forget. For your next trip to Thailand, skip the beach parties and head up north. Rent a bike and explore all the small villages along the way. Meet the locals who have nothing but smiles or their faces and gorge on all the Khao Soi you can find. Thailand, till we meet again.

Tropics in Koh Chang, Thailand

I took a ton of photos of sunsets while in Koh Chang, Thailand. After seeing these scenes for so many days, it would definitely have been easy to not get up to shoot another sunset photo cause I had so many but I just couldn’t pass up an opportunity. One thing I did not do is to get up early for sunrise photos . Are you more of a sunrise or a sunset person?

Jungle in Phi Phi Islands, Thailand

This is one of my favourite shots of my 3-week Thailand trip. I took it on a private boat trip to Koh Phi Phi Don where we visited some of the most amazing beaches I have ever seen in my life. The highlight of the day was when the engine of our boat completely broke down right in front of Maya Bay with the sun setting behind us. We were so glad to get a lift from another boat back to the main island, otherwise we would have had to swim quite a few miles to the beach!

Underwater in Koh Tao Pier, Thailand

Where I’m based in Thailand, Pink anemone fish are common. They’re plucky little creatures that will defend their homes from even the biggest of creatures, (including the very overwhelming reflective glass and bubbles from a divers mask and regulator) this bravery makes them one of my favourite creatures to see whilst under the surface. Especially during a safety stop at 5m, when the sunlight shows the colours in all their glory.

Temple in Wat Arun, Thailand

We had just flew in and landed in Bangkok around 4 AM, but we were all still awake due to the time difference from back in the states. We decided that we wanted to be the first ones at Wat Arun, a beautiful temple in Bangkok meaning Temple of Dawn, so we rested for a few hours and headed there around 6:30 AM. Surely, we were the first ones in as soon as the gates opened for visitors and was able to capture this unforgettable memory of us visiting our first temple in Bangkok. It was definitely a great way to start off our Thailand trip (:

Skyline in Bangkok, Thailand

I went back to my home country where I grew up to meet up with my family and friends. While sitting on my couch in my apartment, I was looking at some rooftop pics. I thought to myself, why not take some cool rooftop pics. I went to my rooftop In bangkok Thailand and took some dope pictures of the view of the city.

Wildlife in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Met up with our daughter, her partner, niece and her partner - serendipity that we were all in Chiang Mai at the same time. One couple lives in Calgary, one in Saint John and my husband and I hang our hats in Halifax. Treated the “kids” to an unforgettable day at a local elephant preserve. These two lovelies had just finished their mud spray after a river bath.

Temple in Buddha head embedded in a Banyan tree, Thailand

Wat Mahathat's Buddha Head is a famous statue that over the decades has been overgrown with the roots of a Banyan Tree. It rests in Thailand's ancient city of Ayutthaya, about an hour and a half from Bangkok. Most people who venture out to this ancient city have a fairly good idea of why they want to go there. I on the other hand, arrived not really sure what to expect. While there, I turned my head and saw this face looking back at me and I realized I have stumbled upon something I have seen many times in photos but never planned to find it for myself. You can say it found me instead.

Hill in Promthep Cape, Thailand

We just rented motorbikes for our trip and decided to cruise down the coastline. We came across Promthep Cape in Phuket, Thailand and stopped to take the view in. I whipped out my camera to take this photo. It reminds me how much of the earth I have yet to see - which makes me feel small…and very happy.

Wildlife in Chatuchak, Thailand

I found this squirrel in a park near Thailand’s biggest weekend market. This friendly feller was so kind to pose for my camera. It gave me the chance to take a few good shots, after which it disappeared in the top branches of this tree. Thank you for being my model for this very short time. I hope to be doing business with you again soon.

Waterway in Damnoen Floating Market, Thailand

The Damnoen Saduak floating market is a more authentic floating marketing outside of Bangkok that has countless narrow canals, fragrances of spices and flavors washing over you moment after moment, fresh fruits piled high upon on rafts, and a raw experience that truly takes you as far away from what a market experience usually is.

Beach in Koh Samui Bus Terminal, Thailand

I took this shot of my two friends as we were biking on the beach in south of the Island called Koh Samui in Thailand. At low tide you can ride on the hard packed sand banks up to 400 meters off shore and see the Island in the background is called Koh Tan. This is an all green Island with no vehicles allowed. You can ride a bike or electric golf cart but not gas powdered vehicles allowed.

Beach in Bangrak Pier (Big Buddha Pier), Thailand

In coastal areas of Thailand long tail boats are everywhere and used for everything. They are beautifully simple and functional with large gasoline engines, often from cars, mounted to a swivel plate in the rear of the boat. The long tail is in fact a propeller shaft directly driven by the motor. No clutch or transmission involved so while they may be simple they are not easy to drive!
