Fraser Island, Australia 🇦🇺. . I’ve had a lot of time recently to go through old photos and I’ve found so many from my time in Australia. I forgot how blue the water was at Lake Mackenzie on Fraser Island! But being the middle of winter it was also so cold! .

Uluru, NT, Australia 🇦🇺. . I was genuinely blown away the first time I saw Uluru. It's the biggest single rock in the world and is mostly made of iron. It gets its red colour from the iron rusting on the outside. Even in cloud, it's a beautiful sight. . @exploreuluru 🇦🇺

Exmouth, WA, Australia 🇦🇺. . Sunset at Vlaming Head Lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula. Built in 1912 after the sinking of the SS Mildura it was operational until 1967. It is now an incredible place to watch the sun dip below the horizon. .

Experienced by @dan_round_the_world
Taj Mahal, Agra, India 🇮🇳. . Getting up close to the Taj was a highlight in India. No photos are allowed inside the building but it was the only place to escape the 40+ degree heat. .

Taj Mahal, Agra, India 🇮🇳. . No it's not perfect. No I'm not posing. No I haven't made sure everything is lined up and centred. No I haven't dressed up for it. No I haven't edited it (other than the touch up button on my iPhone). No it's not the 'perfect travel photo' that many other people post. It's a local taking a photo of me in front of a big white marble building and I still have my backpack on my shoulder. .

The Golden Temple, Amritsar, India 🇮🇳. . The holiest of places to Sikhs, the Golden Temple contains the holy scripture of Sikhism. Over 100,000 people visit daily with Sikhs and non Sikhs being allowed to view the holy areas inside the Gurdwara. .

A view from the bedroom window in Mudh, Himachal Pradesh, India 🇮🇳. . One of my favourite places and one of my favourite photos. Looking out over the farmers fields spread across the fertile land in the Pin Valley to the 6000m mountain in the distance of the Himalayas . .

The Taj Mahal in all its glory. The relative peace around the mausoleum contrasts to the hustle and bustle of Agra outside. 🇮🇳

Experienced by @dan_round_the_world
Roy's Peak, New Zealand 🇳🇿. . This place recently hit the headlines in a viral photo of people queuing up to take a photo. If you walk up hill for another 30 minutes, there are less tourists and better views across the lake. .

Leshan, China 🇨🇳. . The Giant Buddha at Leshan is the largest stone Buddha in the world. It’s carved into the rock on the banks of the river. It’s so big, it’s head is 15m big and you could easily sit on one of its toe nails! .
Experienced by @dan_round_the_world
Xian, China 🇨🇳. . When the train arrives at 6am and the hostel on the other side of the city doesn't open until 8am, the only thing to do is to walk the 6km and enjoy the morning views, take in the smells, the sounds and watch people going about their life. .

Mount Merapi, Java, Indonesia 🇮🇩. . What better way to see a volcano than climbing another volcano in the dark and watching the sun rise. I couldn't climb Gunung Merapi as it erupted just over a month ago, so I climbed 3142m up Gunung Merbabu so see it instead. .

Hiroshima, Japan 🇯🇵. . Hiroshima Castle was built in the 1590 but like most of the city was flattened when the atomic bomb hit in 1945. It was rebuilt in 1958 as an exact replica and now houses a history museum. .

Tokyo, Japan 🇯🇵. . Tatsumi Yagura on the corner of the Imperial Palace in central Tokyo. For one of the biggest and busiest cities in the world, I was always surprised by the amount of green spaces and peace and quiet that could easily be found in central Tokyo. .

Pyongyang, North Korea 🇰🇵. . Looking across the Taedong River to the Juche Tower from Kim Il Sung square. Unfortunately the views from the top of the Juche Tower were covered in cloud when we were there the day before due to the typhoon hitting us. If there is one thing the North Koreans love its very tall flag poles all in a row. .
Experienced by @dan_round_the_world
Mansudae Grand Monument, North Korea 🇰🇵. . The two statues of the great leaders of North Korea, Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, standing over Pyongyang. I haven’t posted much from my time in North Korea but it was one of the most incredible countries I’ve ever been to. Expect plenty more photos to come! . @youngpioneer

The temples of Bagan, Myanmar 🇲🇲. . Over 3000 temples still dot the landscape of the original 10,000 that were built between the 9th and 13th century. Most photos show the temples from the sky at dawn or dusk, but the size of the temples can only be appreciated when looking up. .

Masjid Sultan, Singapore 🇸🇬. . A lot of travellers aren't a fan of Singapore. They say it's too expensive and there isn't anything there. I love it!! It's a mix of east and west, old and new, modern and traditional. It's Malay, Arab, Indian and Chinese. It has European style offices and skyscrapers with small Asian food stalls next door. Masjid Sultan with the CBD in the background shows so many of these differences. . @visit_singapore

Rabaul, Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬. . The town of Rabaul taken from the Volcanology Observatory. The three mountains in the background are volcanoes. The smallest mountain to the right, called Tavurvur, erupted in 1994 burying the original town on the far side of the bay under ash. The new town in the foreground has literally risen from the ashes but is still far smaller than the bustling port used to be. . 🇵🇬

Old Town Tallinn, Estonia 🇪🇪. . The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in the Old Town of Estonias capital. It has been restored after years of neglect during Soviet rule to the remarkable building it is today. .

Tavurvur volcano, Rabaul, East New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬. . The smoking, smouldering gases of the Tavurvur volcano in the background, the steam of the hot springs in the foreground and a sense of accomplishment at just climbing an active volcano for sunrise. Tavurvur erupted in 1994 burying most of Rabaul in ash. The then thriving town has never quite recovered and is now a dusty shadow of its former self. . #
