Der versunkene Kirchturm im Reschensee ist heute das Wahrzeichen des Vinschgau. . Als der Stausee am Reschenpass, dort wo die Etsch ihren Ursprung hat, angelegt wurde, fielen viele Gebäude den Fluten zum Opfer. Für die Stromerzeugung wurden im Sommer 1950 die Dörfer Graun und Teile von Reschen, sowie die uralten Weiler von Arlung, Piz, Gorf und Stockerhöfe geflutet. Insgesamt handelte es sich um 677 Hektar Grund und Boden: Die Einwohner und Hofbesitzer wurde zwangsenteignet und zur Aus- oder Umsiedlung gezwungen. . Nur das Kirchlein von Alt-Graun aus dem 14. Jahrhundert trotzte diesem dunklen Kapitel Südtiroler Geschichte. Sein denkmalgeschützter Kirchturm ragt heute noch aus den Fluten und ist, je nach Wasserstand, mehr oder weniger sichtbar. . Zahlreiche Erzählungen ranken sich um die Überflutung und den Kirchturm: Heute noch sind dem Volksmund nach die Glocken zu hören, die aus der Tiefe geläutet werden! . . @dronemperors

The Galata Tower is one of the symbols of Istanbul and it is situated in Galata, on a hill seeing the historical peninsula of Istanbul from A-Z. The origin of the Galata Tower goes back to the fifth century CE, when Byzantines built a wooden tower named Magalos Pyrgos (Great Tower) in order to control the city of Constantinople and Golden Horn. Due to the fires, earthquakes, and the Sack of Constantinople by the Fourth Crusaders in 1204 the wooden tower was completely destroyed. . .

The Shoes on the Danube Bank is a memorial in Budapest, Hungary. Conceived by film director Can Togay, he created it on the east bank of the Danube River to honour the Jews who were killed by fascist Arrow Cross militiamen in Budapest during World War II. They were ordered to take off their shoes, and were shot at the edge of the water so that their bodies fell into the river and were carried away. It represents their shoes left behind on the bank. . .

Turtle Tower, known to the Vietnamese people at Thap Ruá, was built in 1886 on the same site where a Ta Vong Temple had been built during the 17th or 18th century. Somewhere between the Restored Le Dynasty and the Nguyen Dynasty that temple disappeared. The tower that stands there now was erected on the same site to commemorate a warrior and the impact he had on Vietnam. .
