Mesa Verde NP, Colorado While other national parks in the USA are mainly famous for their breathtaking landscapes, Mesa Verde National Park is famous for its archaeological sites and historical places - the rock dwellings of the ancient Anasazi people. The rock dwellings were discovered in the late 1880s when two cowboys were searching for stray cattle. The exposure by a Swedish explorer led in 1906 to the establishment of the third national park in the USA. The most famous stone dwellings are the well preserved Spruce Tree House, the Balcony House, the Cliff Palace, the Long House, and the Step House. This pic shows Spruce Tree House, which can be visit without a guided tour. Have you already visited Mesa Verde NP?

West Mitten Butte, Monument Valley, Arizona West Mitten Butte is probably the most prominent rock in Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. The only official path is the 3.2 mile Wildcat Trail. A fairly easy route that loops around West Mitten Butte so does at least allow to see this rock from all angles.

Keys View, Joshua Tree NP, California @ccountryatheart Currently, we would even be happy if we could travel to the USA at all. We almost wouldn't care about the place. If we had the choice, then of course Palm Springs. Hiking the Indian Canyons, relaxing by the pool, great people, amazing food and drinks. Within easy reach of LA and San Diego and Joshua Tree NP on our doorstep. Should we be fed up of the heat (which I can't imagine), then there are still the San Bernadino Mountains.

Ice Rink at Rockefeller Center, NYC, New York Sometimes expectations of a place are too high and the reality is disappointing. Do you know that too? Which place in the USA could not be fulfilled your expectations? We felt that way about the famous ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center. In our imagination the rink was much bigger. The ice rink is so tiny. If you really want to skate, go for Wollmann rink in Central Park.

Indian Canyons, Palm Springs, California The Indian Canyons featuring more than 60 miles of hiking trails. One of our favorite hikes is the Victor Trail. It's best to access this trail by hiking a mile south on the Palm Canyon Trail. After a mile you'll come across a small trail junction. From here the Victor Trail will take you out of the shade up and onto the ridge that overlooks the canyon. Victor Trail is a three mile loop, which begins and ends at the Trading Post. Take plenty of water, it could get really hot. We have done the hike in June and it was unbearable hot.
